Hsu Growing Supply is looking for a full time retail associate who will help customers with exceptional customer service, driving sales, and maintaining a well-organized and inviting store environment. They will help set standards of an exceptional company image that invites customers to repeat their business.

Duties and Responsibilities from basic to more advanced include…

● Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner

● Maintain a clean and organized store, restock shelves, and arrange displays

● Be aware of safety concerns for yourself, colleagues, and customers

● Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times

● Provide product knowledge and assistance to customers

● Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly

● Promote special sales and events to customers

● Process sales transactions accurately using cash registers and Point of Sale (POS) systems

● Learn the phone system and answer phone calls in a professional manner

● Learn about deliveries and fee schedule for deliveries

● Learn how to figure volume for compost, soil, and mulch

● Learn the basics of ginseng growing to sell seed and rootlets

● Learn to look up prices, fill in sales forms, and update customer information

● Search customers and their purchase history, enter new information correctly

● Update forms and documents

● Help change displays seasonally

● Help maintain accurate pricing, inside and outside

● Keep confidential information secure

● Occasionally help with cleaning areas such as break rooms and bathrooms

● Support the Hsu Farm in recycling efforts and maintenance of facilities

● Help presenter with workshops

Working Conditions

● Mostly sitting answering phone calls and assisting walk-in customers

● Occasionally will have to help load products for customers (up to 50 pounds)

● Work is a mix of indoors and outdoors

● May be asked to help in Grow And Learn Garden

● May be asked to assist on the soil line or prepare bags for the soil line

Experience:

Previous experience working in a retail setting is preferred.

Specific Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age or older

Valid driver's license is preferred

Horticulture backgrounds not required but greatly appreciated

Willingness to learn

Job Specifications

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday. 7am - 3:30pm

Seasonal hours 7am - 4:30pm M-F and 8am - 2pm Saturday.

Ability to work a minimum of one weekend per month during the busy season

Additional hours may be required as workload dictates.
